RED WING 4

    At the fire range of Sarajevo International Airport today was held a new security exerice called RED WING 4. The exercise started at 09.15 hrs by sounding the alarm which set in motion all partcipants and warned them of a simulated air crash (B737 with 45 passengers and crew members). Upon hitting the ground the aircraft began to burn. The participants started fire-fighting, rescue and evacuation of the injured.
    To assist the ambulance in evacuation of the injured at the scene of the crash arrived a helicopter to transport heavily wounded in city hospitals.
    Sarajevo International Airport is obliged to organize such an exercise once in two years with aim to test level of competence of its staff, as well as effectiveness of the current Emergency Plan. The following agencies took part in the exercise:

    • F MUP Helicopter unit
    The Airports' Security Committee monitoring the exercise all the time, judged it as successful. Readiness and skill of participants proved to be at an enviable level.
